Angela Rovetto is the Mid Atlantic Regional Manager for Best Friends Animal Society and works closely with shelters and communities in 6 states (NC, TN, KY, MD, VA & D.C.) to help them increase their lifesaving capabilities. From identifying strategic and programmatic needs to problem solving and connecting resources, Angela provides customized guidance as agencies and organizations work through the challenges and stages that go along with increasing lifesaving. Angela began her career in animal welfare working at the sanctuary with behaviorally challenging dogs and has training and experience in emergency response. In 2012, she was a founding team member to establish Best Friends’ 1st program city in Los Angeles in a private public partnership with the goal to help Los Angeles Animal Services increase their save rate from a then 54% (annual intake approximately 30,000) to 90%.
Working in L.A. for 6 years in shelter environments in low income areas to downtown Santa Monica, Angela gained diverse hands on experience in all aspects of shelter operations & programming, created & led various operational teams and saw 1st hand the human issues, challenges & lack of resources that contribute to animals being in shelters. It was a transformative time that disproved many of the fears and myths she’d been brought up believing, now seeing the realities and positive impact lifesaving programming, coalitions and community embracing efforts have.
With Los Angeles on the way to their goals, Angela join the Mid Atlantic region in 2017 for the opportunity to work directly with communities trying to save more lives, specifically wanting to support animal lovers working in shelters and agencies as they navigate the pathway to saving more lives.
